A Term at the Institute

Each term is structured around a carefully selected project. Ensembles — including string quartets, trios, and small groups — are curated based on ability, instrument, and musical compatibility.

Weekly coached rehearsals develop both technical command and the collaborative instincts essential to professional chamber music. Each project culminates in a performance, giving students real-world concert experience.

  • Weekly coached rehearsals (2 hours)
  • Term-based projects spanning 8–9 weeks
  • Carefully curated ensembles: string quartets, trios, and small groups
  • Performance outcome at the conclusion of each project
  • Guest artist masterclasses throughout the year
  • Preparation support for Strike A Chord and other national competitions
