Project-Based Chamber Music for Advanced Musicians

The Sydney Chamber Music Institute is a project-based chamber music program designed for advanced junior or pre-professional musicians.

Students are encouraged to take increasing ownership of rehearsal and musical decision-making.

Each term is structured around a carefully selected project. Ensembles, including string quartets, trios, and small groups, are curated based on ability, instrument, and musical compatibility.

Weekly coached rehearsals develop both technical command and the collaborative instincts essential to professional chamber music. Each project culminates in a performance, giving students real-world concert experience.

Between terms, our Chamber Immersion programs bring students and faculty together for five days of focused work. Each Chamber Immersion combines masterclasses, coachings, and rehearsals, and culminates in a concert. Held four times a year during the NSW school holidays, they follow the NSW term calendar and keep the momentum going from one project to the next.
